Do I need to be a certain age before I can move into a Torrens Living home?

The Retirement Villages Act 2016 regulates retirement villages in South Australia.  The minimum entry age for a retirement village is 55 years and the resident cannot work full time.

You must not keep an animal or bird in your unit, unless you obtain our prior written consent.  As a condition of any such consent, you must sign and abide by our pet guidelines.

We encourage you to keep links with relatives, friends and other people from outside the village.  Visitors or short stay guests are welcome at any time and there is no need for you to get our consent or let us know they are coming.  A visitor or short stay guest is somebody who visits during the day and stays overnight for up to 30 days.

Approved alterations and additions can be made to your home. There is a process in place that needs to be followed prior to any works to ensure the integrity and aesthetic qualities of the property and village remain and that works are carried out in a safe manner. Please contact your Torrens Living consultant at enquire@torrensliving.com.au to seek approval.

We do not have the capacity to store boats or caravans on site.

We do require that your Torrens Living home is your main place of residence, however in principle, yes you can.  However, if you were intending to be absent from your unit for an extended period of time, we do require that you advise us beforehand.  This is so that we know who should be in the village in the event of an emergency.  An extended period of time is one calendar month.

We encourage residents to try and negotiate a resolution amongst themselves when differences occur. However, if that proves too difficult, we can step in to help with our dispute resolution approach if needed.

Our Torrens Living consultants can assist you with organising additional wellbeing support. They can help to guide and provide information on My Aged Care, receiving services to help you at home, linking residents to community programs and much more. Our aim is to ensure you have the time of your life while living in a Torrens Living home and we understand that your support needs may change over time.
